The Alt+Learn project is a social endeavor that tries to expand access to inclusive education opportunities for students with learning disabilities, especially in underserved communities. Driven by the mission to narrow the learning gap that would otherwise translate into social and financial inequality, the project aims to spread awareness about specific learning difficulties like ADHD, dyslexia, and dyscalculia, with the ultimate goal of tailoring pedagogical methods to account for these difficulties.
Through creating a significant resource bank of original material, such as children’s books and activity books, and organizing critical thinking and articulation workshops for students, the project seeks to bolster relevant knowledge and social sensitivity around these issues. Further, through conducting fundraisers, the project aims to amplify the efforts of its partner NGOs to create inclusive educational environments that accommodate diverse learning needs. Thus, the project aims to ensure that children with learning impediments are not subject to stigma and isolation, but are given robust opportunities to get on par with their peers.
